Roger
Windsor. MBE, MA (Cantab),
BSc (Edin) BVM&S, MRCVS
As a
veterinary surgeon working at home and abroad in many
different countries for the past thirty years, Roger has always been interested in the arts and theatre.
Making friends with
local artists everywhere he travelled, Roger frequently
collected
examples of their work and kept in touch with them when he moved
on. He
often thought how much he would like to be able to show the work of these artists to
others, in much the same way as his like-minded friend Steve Course
did at his Ottersburn Gallery in Dumfries. Roger
and Steve had become good friends and it was a tragedy when Steve died suddenly in
1999. The sad loss of his friend was followed by the disastrous Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in
the UK. The dreadful way in which the epidemic was handled so appalled Roger
that he decided to retire from his veterinary
work in 2003. However, encouraged by his wife, Maxine,
a
talented musician herself - who knows that Roger is not the
'retiring' type! - he decided to buy the Ottersburn Gallery
and spend his time concentrating entirely on promoting the work
of his artistic friends; a
decision he has never regretted! The
success of the gallery is an indication of how much the instincts
of both Steve and Roger were right. So many visitors have been
delighted that they've been introduced to the many different painting
styles of the artists they both so appreciated. Please
browse this web site which is constantly updated, so
that you can learn about the artists, view some of their pictures, buy them on-line and
note the special exhibitions arranged at the Gallery
throughout the year. Visitors are always welcomed! If
you have any queries, please contact
