| Hugh Bryden
Hugh is a native Doonhamer
but received his art education at the Edinburgh College of
Art. Having taught art in the schools of the Region he has
now turned his talents to administration and is based at
Gracefield.
Not many people have two
shows opening on one evening and our opening had to be put
back so that Hugh was able to take part in his Cowboy
Exhibition at Gracefield.
Hugh was a regular
exhibitor in the Ottersburn Gallery when it was run by Steve
Course. Although a fine painter, Hugh’s greatest
achievements are in various styles of print making, mostly
linocut and drypoint.
He has exhibited at the
Gallery of Architecture Ltd., Greenwich, London, The
Netherbow Arts Centre in Edinburgh, The Dumfries and
Galloway Royal Infirmary, The Cree Gallery, and the
Clachanmore Gallery among others and has taken part in many
exhibitions devoted solely to prints and print making.
In 1999 with Tom Pow he
formed the Cacafuego Press which now takes up much of his
time.
