in France and the USA with
Binotti Galleries, in Holland and in a number of open
competitions as well as at the Royal Glasgow Institute of
Fine Art and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in
Watercolour.
First meeting Roger when he
had his own Gallery in Castle Dykes, it was Melville who
introduced Roger to Steve Course and in so doing was
instrumental in founding a firm friendship between them.
Melville also shares a love
of theatre with Roger, acting in Roger's production of
'Vivat, Vivat Regina' in Dumfries and designing the set for
another of Roger's productions, 'Oh What a Lovely War'.
Melville's paintings have a freedom of style that captures his subjects
in a manner that seems impressionistic, loose and easy and
yet is always accurate and frequently with a hint of humour!
There is no doubt that he is a master of the mediums uses
and his paintings have a charm that is irresistible.
