Petra came to
the pool for a swim and when she got out of the pool she
looked at him but instead of a greeting she said “Where
did you get that shirt?” It had been made for him by his
wife in Gaborone from material that she had bought from the
Mochudi Museum. The
story was told. “I know” said Petra, “I printed
it !” From then on they became firm friends and she drew
the illustrations for his book “Africa,
Africa!”
Apart from
illustrating books for such authors as Ken Follett, she
travels the world teaching communities how to produce
pictures (or visual aids) for health and education. She is
a member of the Birmingham Art Circle, The Sutton Coldfield
Society of Artists and an Associate Member of the Royal
Birmingham Society of Artists. She recently received a few
times prizes for the best painting on show. German
by birth she studied
fine art and graphic design in Germany and later did a
postgraduate degree in printmaking at Brighton Art Collage.
