Timothy
Brooke
He hardly needs any
introduction: his impressionistic realism has the powerful
impact of the uncompromising environment in which he
revels. His canvases vividly display the harsh tropical
sunlight. The misty hues of Kenya’s gentler climes are
depicted in his watercolours. The artist was raised in
Kenya, studied in England and Poland, and has exhibited in
London, Dublin and Warsaw. He was commissioned to produce
27 paintings for the set of the movie “Out of Africa” (Meryl
Streep and Robert Redford). We are only able to offer three
of the artist’s proofs of the prints produced after the
movie. Brooke’s work is also to be found on the walls of one
of Africa’s best known hotels – The Norfolk Hotel in
Nairobi. |
