  Daniel Njoroge

Daniel is a Kikuyu from the Kiambu District of Central Province and was the oldest of eight children. He received a secondary school education but could not study art as he had to work to support his younger siblings through school. Despite this he is now one of Kenya’s leading painters. Throughout the years, he has sought the advice of other artists to improve his technique so that he could accurately depict the world as he saw it. Help was at hand and Daniel received support from Iris and the MKAG and is now able to devote his time to painting He is treading in the footsteps of Joy Adamson (of “Born Free”fame) in recording the vanishing cultures of the various tribes that make up the panoply of people that is Kenya. He works mostly in oil and devotes much time to studying the people that he paints. There is such demand for his work that we only have one of his paintings to offer.
